☺☻♠○♀◙← Does this wingdings type of characters interest you? These special characters are called ASCII Codes. ASCII stands for the American Standard Code for Information Interchange. As per Wikipedia, It is a character-encoding scheme originally based on the English alphabet. ASCII codes represent text in computers, communications
equipment, and other devices that use text. Most modern
character-encoding schemes are based on ASCII, though they support many
more characters than ASCII does.
During my college days I used to chat via mIRC and play online games. I always added a special characters to my name, so it can become unique. I googled the internet for a list of ASCII codes to no avail. so I experimented with my Notepad and listed all the ASCII characters I discovered. Remember though, that not all characters may appear on different programs.
To create an ASCII character, press and hold the "ALT' key and type the corresponding number of your preferred symbol on the num pad, then release the alt key, and the character will appear. Only type the number on your num pad, not the lined up number keys or it won't work!
